SAIFUL KARIM, NAVAL ARCHITECTURE AND ENGINEERING LECTURER
Saiful Karim graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the esteemed Military Institute of Science and Technology, which provided him with a comprehensive understanding of maritime engineering and design. He joined the International Maritime Academy in July 2024 as a Naval Architecture and Engineering Lecturer. In this role, he is dedicated to teaching courses on Ship Construction Paper I, Ship Construction Paper II, Ship Construction Paper III, and Basic Naval Architecture, leveraging his extensive knowledge and experience to educate and inspire the next generation of maritime professionals.
Saiful has worked on various projects, including the design of a cargo ship, highlighting his skills in ship design, structural analysis, and marine systems. He has also participated in industrial training at Dockyard and Engineering Works Limited and Karnafuly Shipbuilders Limited, gaining hands-on experience and deepening his practical knowledge. Additionally, his undergraduate thesis, titled “Assessment of the Performance of Conventionally Built Sand Carriers and Comparison with Properly Designed Vessels,” showcases his research into enhancing vessel design and performance.
Saiful’s research interests encompass ship design and optimization, naval architecture in offshore engineering, marine renewable energy, and maritime decarbonization. His academic background and current teaching position underscore his commitment to advancing the maritime field and continuously exploring new technologies and methodologies to enhance the efficiency and safety of maritime operations.
