The International Maritime Academy has purchased 4.8 acres of land where an administrative cum academic building is situated. A parade ground, marine workshop, auditorium, simulation centre, recreation facility, training pool, fire-fighting facility and survival craft training station is taking shape. There will also be a tanker training manifold with actual tanks and associated devises such as Framo pump, tank washing and gauging facility, a control lab. 12 class-rooms which include special ones for chart-work and machine drawing are fully furnished. All class-rooms are provided with multi-media facility, whiteboard and connection to central server for video projection. A state of the art bridge simulation unit is being installed. International Maritime Academy is now in the process of commencing training for Deck and Engine ratings, commencing with Ordinary Seamen and Wipers and gradually add on training for ratings forming part of a navigation and engineering watch, ship’s cook training as well as that of AB for both deck and engine and electro technical ratings.
