IMA is installing gravity davits with ‘totally enclosed mechanically propelled survival craft’ (TEMPSC) and that this installation will be completed by October 2013.The basic survival training is inclusive in the main course and is provided by the International Maritime Academy in collaboration with the National Maritime Institute of Chittagong.
Work is underway in IMA permanent campus to provide training for Personal Survival Training (PST) course; practical part. The theoretical part had always been provided by the institute, but as per recent government directive, the practical training has to be conducted at the NMI, Chittagong until our facility is approved by the Department of Shipping.
The more advanced version, known as Proficiency in Survival Craft & Rescue Boat (PSCRB) is also offered by the parent institution, Bangladesh Maritime Training Institute (BMTI) in collaboration with Bangladesh Marine Academy for the practical training part only.
