SUMAYA NUR MITHILA, INSTRUCTOR
I’m Sumaya Nur Mithila. I’m a dedicated chemist and joined International Maritime Academy (IMA) as a full-time Chemistry Instructor in July 2024. My core responsibilities are to encompass delivering systematic lectures on a wide range of Chemistry topics, from fundamental to applied aspects, and designing and delivering course materials in alignment with the guidelines prescribed by the Department of Shipping (DOS) and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University (BSMRMU). Before joining IMA, I have completed my M.Sc. in Physical- Inorganic Chemistry from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and B.Sc. (Honors) in Chemistry from Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST). I have also served as a Teaching Assistant in the Department of Chemistry at BUET, where I was instructor for undergraduate students and graded lab reports. I also completed a training at the Training Institute for Chemical Industries (TICI) where I have honed my skills in Chemical analysis and quality control. I’m proficient with various instrumental techniques, including XRD, FTIR, UV- Visible spectrometer, EDX and FESEM and possesses strong IT, data processing, and analyzing skills in Microsoft Office, Origin and ChemDraw. My research interests are design and synthesis of nanomaterials and their application in catalysis, energy conversion and environmental remediation. I also played role in organizing academic events and industrial tours and an active member of the BUET Chemistry Alumni Association. I have completed my PMTA course arranged by Department of Shipping.
